Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.” So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days. And because of his words many more became believers.
They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.”
I think it’s clear we are encouraged to share what the Lord has done in our hearts and in our lives. It’s not about proselytizing (whew! I had to look that one up, to make sure I spelled it correctly!), or changing another. It’s not about “winning them over to our side”. it’s about sharing, and bringing to glory to Jesus through what he’s done for us. that’s all. Let the Holy Spirit do the rest. Much like Jesus did while on earth.
And look how excited this Samaritan woman was to tell everyone about this prophet! That’s all she did! And they saw for themselves!
Not so scary now, is it? 🙂
